Brno, November the 9th, 2010 – TrustPort, a leading provider of internet security software, is proud to be supporting UNICEF by making a financial donation to enable them to buy special kits for schools in developing countries. The school kits are not culturally specific so that they can be used anywhere in the world. TrustPort supports through its donation up to 240 students.

Vladislav Nemec, CEO at TrustPort says: “It is our pleasure here at TrustPort to participate with Unicef in this project. We see that education is essential in combating poverty and protecting children from exploitation, and access to appropriate learning materials is a fundamental aspect. Schools provide children with protection, stability, and a return to normalcy. This model bears a striking resemblance to the protection in which TrustPort products are effectively able to secure computers. We are aware of current global needs; not only to protect computers from malicious software, but also to protect children.“

The primary objective of these special school kits is to help re-establish learning as the first step towards the restoration of normal schooling following an emergency. However, it can also be used in development situations where a country suddenly faces an influx of students, e.g. if school fees are abolished at once.

“When we ensure that girls and boys receive a quality education, we create opportunities for children to build lives and realize their dreams. A quality basic education enhances lives and ends cycles of poverty and disease. UNICEF is grateful to TrustPort for their kind donation. The commitment of TrustPort to support UNICEF educational programs reflects its dedication towards measurable results for children. This contribution is sincerely appreciated.” said Pavla Gomba, General Director at Unicef Czech Republic.

About UNICEF

UNICEF is on the ground in over 150 countries and territories to help children survive and thrive, from early childhood through adolescence. The world’s largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments.

Alastair Sorbie

Corporate executives generally lack confidence in the ability of IT to provide the insight and control that is required throughout the lifecycle of a project and would like to see better integration with their business software. These are the findings of a study conducted by the International Project Management Association (IPMA) on behalf of IFS among CEOs or COOs and project managers at project-based businesses across five regions (the UK, USA, Australia, Scandinavia and Benelux).

The study found that:

Nearly three quarters (72%) of CEOs/COOs and project managers identify the ability to manage projects as critical or absolutely critical to the future growth of the business

Despite this, just 11% of CEOs/COOs and project managers are very confident of their ability to manage business critical projects in the most efficient way

Only one quarter (25%) of businesses surveyed have fully integrated IT systems for project management and just 12% of all businesses are very confident they have full visibility of information to run projects effectively despite identifying IT integration and real-time data as priorities for project control

The research also points out that the economic downturn has placed new business demands on project-based industries; 66% of respondents agree or strongly agree that, post-recession, enterprise software tools have become even more important to run projects than ever before.

IFS CEO Alastair Sorbie said, “Change is the nature of projects, and we know from many years working with project-oriented companies that agility and scalability in project-based solutions are crucial to project success. Together with achieving a holistic view, where businesses have full visibility, control and insight into real-time data tracking, this is vital to manage the new generation of mission-critical projects and to future organizational growth.”

Both the C-Suite executive leaders and project managers questioned agreed that the top three most important factors for consistent and efficient project management were resource planning (55%), integrated enterprise systems (52%) and real-time data (47%). These results mirrored organizational IT and project-based solution investment priorities, with 49% giving IT integration as their top priority. Real-time data (40%) was the next priority, followed by resource planning (37%). Despite being stated as an investment priority and being crucial to business success, just one quarter of organizations have fully integrated IT systems in place for project management.

“A project manager that doesn’t see the complete picture of what the other project members or other corporate functions have planned and ordered will not be able to give a correct forecast of the project each month. When control of critical projects is not in place, the entire business is at risk. Because of this, many companies spend huge resources to gather information, managing projects with many different systems,” Sorbie said. “This is not sustainable from an efficiency perspective, and can easily be solved using one, integrated system.”

“This new evidence points to the fact that organizations are lacking the confidence in their ability to deliver effective projects—despite project management being a business-critical area. This is down to concerns about access to the important information required to run projects efficiently and on time,” said Prof Brane Semolic, IPMA’s Research Management Board Chair. “The results from this survey are in line with anecdotal evidence we receive from our fifty Project Management Associations around the world and make it clear that effective project management makes a vital contribution to customer delivery, cost control and future business growth.”

This IFS research surveyed 273 respondents across the USA, UK, Australia, Scandinavia and Benelux, comprising 49% CEOs/COOs and 51% project managers. Respondents surveyed are from the Energy/Utilities, Telecom, Oil & Gas, Construction and Manufacturing sectors. In March, IFS announced that it has commissioned the IPMA, a world-leading non-profit-making project management organization, to investigate approaches to project management confidence and efficiency. The results of this research project will be available in September 2010.
PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, Sept. 16, 2010 – Intel Capital, Intel’s global investment organization, today announced additional funding for MALL.CZ, operated by one of its portfolio companies in the Central Eastern European region. Intel Capital and MCI, a leading Polish investor, have each made a 5 million Euro investment into MALL.CZ’s holding company, Netretail Holding, B.V. (“Netretail Holding”). In addition, Ondřej Tomek (private investor, ex–Centrum.cz) also invested €1M in the company in a separate investment. The investment demonstrates Intel Capital’s confidence in the future prospects for the company and its commitment to the Central Eastern European region.

MALL.CZ is located in the Czech Republic with Netretail Holding also having operations in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Germany. The group currently runs fully localised ecommerce shops with 600 product categories from consumer electronics to sporting equipment. MALL.CZ has more than 1,000,000 registered customers and a daily visitor rate well above 100,000 users.

Arvind Sodhani, president of Intel Capital and Intel executive vice president, said: “This investment is a clear indication of Intel Capital’s commitment to the Central Eastern European region. It demonstrates our unwavering commitment to invest in technology innovation globally, and stimulate economic activity in the region by encouraging local entrepreneurship.”

Ondrej Fryc, CEO of Netretail Holding, commented: “Since 2000 we have pioneered a new approach to Internet retailing, investing heavily in customer services, infrastructure and large logistics warehouses. This approach has differentiated the company from the competition and enabled us to grow significantly in the last few years. Intel Capital has been a very valuable supporter in this endeavour. As a result of the second round of financing, we will be able to develop customer satisfaction and grow into other markets in the region. There are significant opportunities for new approaches and innovations.”

Marcin Hejka, Managing Director Intel Capital Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “Intel Capital first recognised the company’s potential in 2008 when it originally invested in the company. Netretail Holding is one of the leading e-commerce companies in Eastern Europe and achieved strong growth in the last year despite tough economic conditions in the region and negative GDP growth. We have continued to support the company through challenging times and believe that it has excellent growth opportunities to expand into other markets in the region.”

Darmstadt, Germany, September 8, 2010 – Software AG today announced that it has been named a Leader in the August 2010 report by Forrester Research, Inc., The Forrester Wave™: Business Process Management Suites, Q3 2010, receiving some of its top scores in services as well as process modeling and collaborative design. Forrester Research, Inc. stated: “The IDS Scheer acquisition gives Software AG one of the deepest benches for process skills and capabilities in the market.”

Citing Software AG as a “BPM heavyweight,” Forrester highlighted several features that landed Software AG in the Leader category and reflect the evaluation of the webMethods and ARIS portfolios, including:

“Software AG stood out for its comprehensive process repository, CentraSite, and improved process portal capabilities.”

Software AG, among other vendors, presented “…strong integration features, strong process repositories, and excellent design collaboration capabilities.”

“Software AG also improved its standing in this evaluation by delivering an intuitive environment that is also highly scalable.”

“It’s an honor to be cited as a Leader in Forrester’s BPM Wave,” said Dr. Wolfram Jost, Chief Technology Officer and member of the Executive Board, Software AG. “We take great pride in delivering the technology that benefits our customers in ways that help them increase their speed and quality of service, while driving down costs. Our leadership position in BPM reflects the great partnerships we have with our customers and the great team we have here at Software AG.”

About the Report

Forrester Research, Inc. evaluated 11 Business Process Management Suite (BPMS) vendors against 148 criteria reflecting the requirements of business process professionals running large-scale BPM programs. The research firm found that Leaders such as Software AG feature “competitive products that offer industry-leading development environments and improved tools for business stakeholders.”

webMethods BPMS 8.0, ARISalign 1.0 and ARIS Enterprise BPM 7.1 are the products, with which Software AG has strengthened its human-centric BPM capabilities. webMethods BPMS incorporates a set of fully-integrated tools for automating and managing processes. Key features of webMethods BPMS include business activity monitoring (BAM), process simulation, adaptive workflow, a comprehensive metadata library, business rules management, creative integration with Software AG’s comprehensive Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), SOA lifecycle governance, and application modernization product offerings.

ARIS incorporates process analysis and optimization solutions – including ARISalign, the world’s first social BPM platform and community site. ARISalign combines social networking tools with process design and modeling capabilities. Process users, IT and process experts, and business managers can use ARISalign to innovate collaboratively on process change using intuitive, “drag-and-drop” functionality.

Software AG offers an integrated BPMS with an overall intuitive environment, as well as superior capabilities in process modeling, collaboration, product architecture and scalability. The company’s BPM capabilities offer faster time to ROI, enabling organizations to design, automate, monitor and optimize complex business processes.

BPM is a New “Hero”

According to the report, some argue that BPM emerged as one of the “heroes” during the downturn by helping enterprises boost productivity and gain efficiency and greater control over key operational processes, according to Forrester. Some of the hardest-hit sectors, including financial services and insurers had the strongest appetites for BPM suites throughout the recession, and Forrester predicts that key economic themes from the recession will continue to drive demand for BPM over the next several years.

“We believe that the time is right for BPM,” Dr. Jost said. “Companies have seen that poorly designed and managed processes lead to operational costs they cannot afford to incur, particularly in this economic climate. Businesses have a critical need to increase efficiency through process automation and optimization. Software AG has continued to invest strategically in our BPMS offerings, and we are well-positioned for strong growth in BPM adoption by organizations worldwide.”

Brno, May the 20th, 2010 – Independent comparative tests are necessary for the improvement of security software. PC Security Labs, a testing organization based in China, has recently published the results of its latest comparative testing. Thirty antivirus software manufacturers submitted their products, among them producers from America, Asia, Australia, and Europe. TrustPort scored well, and its software, TrustPort PC Security, ranked among the top four products.

PC Security Labs was established over two years ago in Beijing. It is the only independent research lab from China, which so far became member of the international Anti Malware Testing Standards Organization, associating scientists, testers and producers in the field of computer security. PC Security Labs performs regular comparative testing but recently started also one product testing. Testing reports are available on its website, both in Chinese and in English.

The latest comparative by PC Security Labs included thirty antivirus products and security suites. The testing method consisted of scanning on demand, using a malware set and a clean set. The malware set represented around one thousand top threats in the region; the clean set included popular software, downloaded and purchased in China. Two variables were measured, malware detection rate and false positives rate. Based on these two measurements, the final score was calculated.

TrustPort PC Security achieved an average false positive rate. However, it once again demonstrated outstanding performance, as far as detection rate goes. The security suite identified 99.3% of the malware samples. Only three competing products ended up with higher detection. All the best known antivirus manufacturers of the world scored significantly worse than the top four.

“We are of course delighted by the results of the test,” says Vladislav Němec, chief executive officer of TrustPort. “Our development team has worked hard to take our antivirus technology this far. At the same time, software innovation is a never ending process, meant to satisfy the evolving demands of our clients.” The latest testing results can be seen as a continuation of achievements from the past. TrustPort antivirus technology has been successful in the tests performed by West Coast Labs, Virus Bulletin, and AV-Comparatives recently. As a matter of fact, TrustPort often takes the topmost place of the chart.

TrustPort PC Security and TrustPort Antivirus are suitable for both home and business customers. Under the names TrustPort PC Security Business and TrustPort Antivirus Business, perfect security solutions are available, offering antivirus, antispyware and antispam, everything centrally managed using a single web console. For the protection of whole networks against malware and spam, TrustPort Net Gateway is a great choice.
